So I've been reading everything I can get my hands on about weight gain in pregnancy and nothing I read comforts me. Everything says that it is healthy to gain 25-30 lbs total if you are already at healthy weight and 5 of that should be gained in her first trimester.
Are you joking me?
I'm at 7 1/2 weeks and I've gained 7 lbs since learning I was pregnant and I'm really struggling with not just thinking that I'm getting fat again. You have to understand the weight loss battle I went through for the last year (and really my whole life) and I understand that my focus should be my health and my baby but gaining weight so quickly is very hard for me. Not to mention the fact that this past week I have been starving all the time. I don't just feel hungry, I feel famished almost every hour. I find myself eating constantly to ward off the nausea and keep my energy going. Sigh
I keep reminding myself that there is a little baby growing in the belly and it's time to just get over the whole fat thing. Any moms want to chime in here?
Pretty sure you should not ask Cassandra and I - we pretty much both looked like "eating Gilbert Grape" through our pregnancies;)) hahaha we pretty much ate everything in reach;)!!!!
ReplyDeleteI say listen to your body and make your eating choices healthy. If you get hungry, reach for the fruit, veggies and whole grains instead of the cakes, cookies and pizza. Babies don't crave sugar and processed foods, so as long as you eat nutritional foods, you should be ok :-)
ReplyDeleteYou could be retaining water as well. That might explain the weight gain. Talk to your Dr. about your weight concerns.
I have no personal experience, but as I've been surround by nothing but pregnant friends for the past year, I feel like I've heard it all. From their experiences, I can tell you that weight gain can fluctuate a lot during your pregnancy. You'll probably go through weeks where you gain almost nothing, and then gain a bunch of weight all at once, so I wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as you are eating healthy foods when you are hungry (Like JoAnn said). I think one of the reasons women gain too much weight in pregnancy is because they use it as an excuse to eat all the time (more than they should) and anything they want.
